Zabuza Momochi is a representative villain and tragic character in the Naruto series, a renegade shinobi of the Hidden Mist Village, a member of the Ninja Sword Seven, and known as the “Misty Hidden Ghost Man”, known for his control of the decapitating sword and silent killing techniques.
Origin and Background
Zabuza was born in the Hidden Mist Village in the Land of Water. When he took the ninja graduation exam at the age of 9, he killed all the candidates in the same class (only he survived), forcing the Hidden Mist Village to abolish the "mutual killing graduation system" and was named "Demon".
After he became an adult, he inherited Biwa Juzo's beheading sword and became one of the second batch of "Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist". After failing to assassinate the Fourth Mizukage, who was controlled by Obito, he defected and became the target of the Hidden Mist Village.
During his escape, Zabuza met the young boy Haku who possessed the "Ice Release Bloodline Genkai" and trained him as a tool, but in fact formed a complex bond with him.
Personality and Hobbies
Cold and tender: He claims that "ninjas are just tools", but he lost control of his rage after Haku's death, and begged Kakashi to bury Haku before he died.
Tsundere expression: He often calls Haku "trash", but actually secretly recognizes his value. Some lines in the game (such as "Haku, keep up!") imply a sense of dependence.
Sharpening ritual: The beheading sword needs to drink blood to repair, and the sound of sharpening is often used to create psychological oppression during the battle.
Special hobbies: He hates sweets and prefers fishy raw fish.

Ending and Influence
In the final showdown of the Battle of Waves, Zabuza died of exhaustion while protecting Haku's remains. Before his death, he wrote "Haku, I'm sorry" with his finger, which became a classic teardrop in Naruto. When he was dying, he lay beside Haku and said to Kakashi in the snow: "Bury me and Haku together."
He was resurrected during the Fourth Ninja World War, and showed samurai-like respect to Kakashi when he reunited. He finally assisted the coalition forces in fighting against Uchiha Madara before being sealed.
Cultural Significance
Zabuza hates the system of weaponizing ninjas in Kirigakure, but he himself trains Haku as a tool. In the end, he breaks his creed to protect Haku and completes his self-redemption. Ninjas cannot cut off their emotions after all, which deepens Naruto's exploration of war ethics.
